BREAKING THE ICE PHOTOS Pelagic Australis' next trip is to support Magnus Olsson’s (Assa Abloy in the last Volvo Race) cruise to the Peninsula to visit the sites of the 1901-1903 Nordenskjold Expedition. PELAGIC EXPEDITIONS AVAILABILITY As at Jan 21 2004 HAMBLE TO TROMSO 20 JUNE - 17 JULY This cruise, which totals a month but is possible to do in weekly increments, leaves Hamble on 20th June and aims to get North to the inner Hebredies as fast as possible via the Irish Sea. The first planned port of call is the Island of Islay followed by Jura to Oban with calls at distilleries on the way. Time and weather permitting this leg offers the opportunity to visit the whirlpool of the Gulf of Correyvreckan and climb the Paps of Jura. The second week offers a more leisurely progress through the Western Isles from Oban to Ullapool with, depending on the weather, the following possibilities, Iona, Fingals Cave, climbing on the Cullins of Skye and the isolated anchorages and wildlife of the Outer Hebredies. The third week sees a trip from Ullapool to Trondheim which may take in a trip up the Sognefjord or calls to the Orkney and Shetland Isles on the way. The final week will aim to get from Trondheim to the Lofoten Islands as soon as possible and spend 2-3 days cruising this unique area. TIERRA DEL FUEGO, CAPE HORN AND BEAGLE CHANNEL MARCH-APRIL 2004 To conclude Pelagic Australis’ first southern hemisphere season we are offering a 14 day cruise in Tierra del Fuego taking in the Beagle Channel and Cape Horn. This cruise is suitable for a group of 8-10 people or on an individual basis. Cost will be $400 USD per person per day or $5600 USD in total. The cruise departing Puerto Williams Chile on March 15 will visit Cape Horn and then transit the entire Beagle Channel ending on the Straits of Magellan at Punta Arenas on March 28. The itinerary can be adjusted to suit a group’s objectives if climbing or trekking is a priority.
