PELAGIC NEWS LETTER NO30 - 19 Nov 2010
Pelagic Australis and crew Miles Wise,
Laura Parish and David Roberts are approaching South Georgia on her second
voyage of the season, and soon to deploy a team of four mountaineers led by
Stephen Venables on a ski traverse of the southern third of the island.
Stephen led a similar trip to this region in 1989, and his team spent the
first 20 days stuck in an ice cave below the Ross Pass. Wish him better luck
this time! Follow his blog now running on

Pelagic and crew Chris Harris, Julie Lherault and Wayne Tyrril are also on
the island as safety cover for the Norwegian South Georgia 2010 Expedition.
They are off to a cracking start for their attempt to circumnavigate the
island. Their blog is up and running and is excellent,

“Time on the Ocean – A Voyage From
Cape Horn to Cape Town” Meanwhile, the Irish poet and writer Theo
Dorgan has just published his new book “Time on the Ocean – A Voyage From
Cape Horn to Cape Town” about his time on Pelagic Australis on her annual
delivery and training run from Chile to Cape Town in 2006. This appears to
be an excellent read and pulls no punches about life on board.
